Our Mission
The Canadian Society of Consultant Pharmacists (CSCP), Canada's Senior Care Pharmacists, is a Chapter of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP). CSCP is a voluntary organization of pharmacists working in a variety of practice settings. The focus of this organization is to enhance the role of pharmacists working with clients in assisted living or long term care settings. The practice encompasses two distinct roles: the distribution of drugs and the information-based role of consulting or consultant services.

CSCP members work in a variety of settings such as long term care centres, assisted living organizations and in the community; promoting and enhancing optimal medication therapy for our seniors.

Upcoming Launch of SafeMedicationUse.ca and How You Can Help Engage Consumers
Recognizing that consumers can play an active role in preventing harm from medication use, ISMP Canada has worked with Patients for Patient Safety Canada and other consumer and healthcare groups to launch a new website, www.SafeMedicationUse.ca. The website will expand the role of consumers in the Canadian Medication Incident Reporting and Prevention System (CMIRPS), and support a proactive consumer role in medication safety.

The Canadian Geriatrics Society will be holding its annual scientific meeting for 2010 in Ottawa at the Westin Hotel from April 15-17th.
Novopharm Eldercare Award
Luis Viana R.Ph., M.Ed., CGP winner of the 2009 Novopharm Award of Excellence
The Novopharm Award of Excellence in Senior Care Pharmacy is an award conferred annually to a senior care pharmacist who consistently uses their skills in improve the care and quality of life of the senior population and demonstrates leadership in advancing pharmaceutical care to this population.
2009 ASCP - Anaheim
The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) celebrated their 40th anniversary and Senior Care Pharmacy annual meeting in Anaheim, California, on November 19-21, 2009. The meeting was held at the Anaheim Convention Centre, which was separated only by rows of palm trees to the several local hotels that housed over 3000 delegates, many of which were Canadians.
Canada Night 2009
This year, Canada Night was held at the Marriott Anaheim at 7pm on Wednesday, 18 November. Pharmascience was the generous sponsor of the event, making it possible for Canadian attendees to meet and greet new and old friends, alike.
